In honor of Earth Day, the youngest students at LEMS, ranging from pre-kindergarten to second grade, participated in a special basil planting event. The initiative was led by Mr. Tony from the Darby Exchange, who invited the enthusiastic student to learn about the benefits of basil.

During the event, students discovered that basil is not only a great plant for repelling mosquitoes but also plays a crucial role in providing oxygen. Mr. Tony emphasized the importance of planting and nurturing plants for a healthier environment.

Adding a local touch, Mr. Tony shared that basil can be used to make delicious pesto, a popular dish in Italy. The students were excited to learn about the culinary uses of basil and how it connects to their host nation.

This Earth Day activity not only educated the young learners about environmental stewardship but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation for nature. The event was a delightful and informative experience for all involved.
